In this communication, we describe a new method for the carbonylative synthesis of acylstannanes from aryl iodides and hexamethyldistannane. With Pd(PPh3)(4) as the catalyst and toluene as the solvent at 60 degrees C under 10 bar CO for 16 h, the desired acylstannanes were obtained in good to excellent yields. In order to facilitate isolation and analysis, the obtained acylstannanes were transformed into the corresponding benzoic acids by simply stirring under air for 5 h. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V. A general and practical protocol for the construction of isoxazolidine-fused isoquinolin-1(2H)-ones has been described by electrochemical-oxidation-induced intramolecular annulation via amidyl radicals. In an undivided cell, isoquinolinones could be easily generated from various available amides bearing CONHOR groups under metal-free, additive-free and external oxidant-free conditions. Ir-catalyzed cascade dehydrogenative CH/BH and BH/OH cross-coupling of carboranyl carboxylic acid with readily available benzoic acid has been achieved, leading to the facile synthesis of previously unavailable carborano-coumarin in a simple one-pot process. Two cage B-H, one aryl C-H and one O-H bonds are activated to construct efficiently new B-C and B-O bonds. The cascade cyclization can stop at the first B-H/C-H cross-coupling step by tuning the reaction conditions, resulting in a series of alpha-carboranyl benzoic acid and aryl carborane derivatives. Control experiments indicate that B-H/C-H dehydrocoupling proceeds preferentially over B-H/O-H dehydrocoupling, and both directing groups and oxidants are crucial for this reaction. An iridium(V) intermediate is proposed to be involved in the catalytic cycle.

An approach to the generation of ultra-large chemical libraries of readily accessible (REAL”) compounds is described. The strategy is based on the use of two- or three-step three-component reaction sequences and available starting materials with pre-validated chemical reactivity. After the preliminary parallel experiments, the methods with at least similar to 80% synthesis success rate (such as acylation – deprotection – acylation of monoprotected diamines or amide formation – click reaction with functionalized azides) can be selected and used to generate the target chemical space. It is shown that by using only on the two aforementioned reaction sequences, a nearly 29-billion compound library is easily obtained. According to the predicted physico-chemical descriptor values, the generated chemical space contains large fractions of both drug-like and beyond ruleof-five members, whereas the strictest lead-likeness criteria (the so-called Churcher’s rules) are met by the lesser part, which still exceeds 22 million.

Sulfuric acid and aromatic compounds are abundant in the atmosphere and play an important role in aerosol nucleation and growth. The main objective of this work is to provide molecular level description of pre-nucleation clusters formed by these species. Our approach is based on size- and compositionselective generation of anionic clusters, consisting of sulfuric acid and series of aromatic carboxylates (ArCOO-; Ar =Phenyl, o-, m-, and p-CH3C6H4 ), and their subsequent characterization using photoelectron spectroscopy and quantum chemical calculations. The photoelectron spectra show that formation of these clusters is accompanied by a significant increase of electron binding energies, implying significant stabilization gained from electron delocalization upon complexation. Comparison between the experimental and calculated results suggests that under low temperature conditions these clusters behave more like a complex of sulfuric acid and aromatic carboxylate, (H2SO4)(ArCOO-), despite the fact that ArCOO- has much higher proton affinity than HSO4-. Similar result has been previously reported for sulfuric acid formate cluster [Hou, Wang, and Valiev, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 139 (2017) 11321-11324], and indicates that interaction energy gained though the formation of these clusters is sufficient to counteract proton affinity imbalance. The calculated intermolecular binding energies (BEs), Gibbs free energies (Delta G), and evaporation rates (gamma) show that these (H2SO4)(ArCOO- ) clusters are extremely stable, with BEs of similar to 54 kcal/mol, Delta G of similar to-40 kcal/mol, and gamma of 10(-20) s(-1) . The experimental and computational results reported in this work suggest that aromatic acids may play a significant role in facilitating the early stages of sulfuric acid nucleation.
