A transition metal free expedient approach for the C=C bond cleavage of electron deficient alkenes such as arylidene Meldrum’s acid and malononitrile derivatives are discussed. The C=C bond of these compound were cleaved to benzoic acid in good yield at high temperature. Most importantly, with oxone in CH3CN/H2O at 45 degrees C or m-CPBA in DCM or NaClO2 in THE/H2O or PIDA in THE at room temperature furnished benzaldehyde derivatives selectively in excellent yields. In the present study, a series of novel and biologically potent 6-amino-1-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-4-phenyl-1,4-dihydropyrano [2,3-clpyrazole-5-carbonitrile derivatives (5a-5u) have been synthesized through multicomponent reaction between various substituted aromatic aldehyde derivative (4a-4u), 2, 4-dinitrophenyl hydrazine (1), ethyl acetoacetate (2) and malononitrile (3) in the presence of SnCl 2 as a prompt catalyst using both microwave irradiation method as well as conventional method. The structure of synthesized compounds were confirmed by various spectroscopic methods such as H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, IR, Mass analysis and elemental analysis. All the synthesized compounds were subjected in vitro antibacterial, anti-tuberculosis screening and cytotoxicity MTT assay. In vitro biological study revealed that the synthesized compound 5a, 7a and 8a are showing good anti-bacterial and anti-tuberculosis activity. The in silico study of ADME pharmacokinetic properties were also predicted for synthesized compounds for checking their bioavailability. Furthermore, molecular docking study of synthesized compounds with enoyl-ACP reductase (oxidoreductase) was carry out to find out the binding affinity of compounds. Docking study demonstrated that compound 7b and 7a possessed superior binding affinity with target enzyme by strong hydrogen bonding. We have also carried out molecular dynamics simulation to check the stability of docked complex, conformational changes and primary molecular interaction. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

A new ONO-tridentate Schiff base ligand (H2L) derived from 3-methoxysalicylaldehyde and nicotinic hydrazide was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, UV-Vis, and powder XRD studies. Then, oxovanadium(V) and dioxomolybdenum(VI) Schiff base complexes, VOL and MoO2L, were also prepared and characterized by different techniques. Moreover, the catalytic activities of both complexes were investigated for the synthesis of benzimidazoles, benzoxazoles, and benzothiazoles under reflux conditions as well as through ultrasonic irradiation. The results revealed several advantages of this procedure, including high product yields, short reaction times, facile work-up procedure, simplicity in operation, eco-friendly reaction conditions, and green aspects by avoiding toxic catalysts and solvents.

Eosin Y-catalyzed one-pot coupling and cyclization of o-substituted anilines with aldehydes to form benzoxazoles and benzothiazoles under mild condition has been developed. The reaction scope was broadly tolerant of various 2-substituted anilines and aldehydes. The desired products were obtained in high yields with the use of eosin Y as a photocatalyst under a substantial refinement of reaction conditions in comparison with previous literature. The Pd-catalyzed three-component coupling polycondensation of diiodoarenes, nonconjugated dienes, and carbonucleophiles afforded poly(arylene alkenylene)s with moderate molecular weight in good yield. The reaction involves Mizoroki-Heck coupling, olefin migration via chain walking, and addition of the carbonucleophile to the resulting pi-allylpalladium species. The polymerization with a slight excess of nucleophile with respect to diiodoarene also proceeded to give the polymer without significant decrease in molecular weight in spite of the nonstoichiometric mixture of the monomers. The Pd-catalyzed three-component coupling polycondensation of diiodoarenes, nonconjugated dienes, and diimide also proceeded. The base used in the reaction is critical for yield and molecular weight of the product. The reaction using NaHCO3 afforded the product with low solubility, which can be explained by the high molecular weight of the polymer and/or the strong interaction of the electron donating dimethoxyphenylene groups and electron accepting diimide groups in the polymer.
