To improve the efficiency of the photocatalytic decarbonylation of cyclopropenones, the effects of substituents on cyclopropenone were explored. A benzothiophene-substituted aminocyclopropenone exhibited significantly improved decarbonylation efficiency to produce the corresponding ynamine, which worked as a potent dehydration condensation agent. The benzothiophene derivative was applicable to the photocatalytic reaction in the presence of potential excited-state quenchers such as oxygen and anilines. The high catalyst sensitivity would be attributed to the involvement of triplet energy transfer reaction pathway, which was not observed in the reaction with previously reported aminocyclopropenones.

We report a direct single-electron oxidation of methylenecyclopropanes (MCPs) for the rapid construction of 4-aryl-1,2-dihydronaphthalene derivatives by merging visible light photoredox catalysis and cobalt catalysis. In MeCN with Et3N center dot 3HF (1.0 equiv.), the fluorination of MCPs can be realized in the presence of 9-mesityl-10-methylacridinium perchlorate and Co(dmgH)(2)PyCl, affording fluorinated 4-aryl-1,2-dihy-dronaphthalene derivatives in moderate yields. In MeCN/HFIP (7 : 3), 4-aryl-1,2-dihydronaphthalene derivatives were obtained in good yields through a MHAT process under similar conditions.

Herein, we report the synthesis of the Man(9)epitope with both alpha and beta configurations at the reducing end, and subsequent evaluation of the impact of this configuration on binding to natural receptor of high-mannose, DC-SIGN. Using fluorescence polarization assays, we demonstrate that both anomers bind to DC-SIGN with comparable affinity. These relevant results therefore indicate that the more synthetically-accesible Man(9)alpha epitope may be deployed as ligand for DC-SIGN in bothin vitroandin vivobiological assays.

Herein, we demonstrate that amides can be readily coupled with nonactivated arenes via sequential Ir-catalyzed C-H borylation/N-C(O) activation. This methodology provides facile access to biaryl ketones and biaryls by the sterically controlled Ir-catalyzed C-H borylation and divergent acyl and decarbonylative amide N-C(O) and C-C activation.
