A novel path has been developed for the conversion of carboxylic acids into the corresponding N -acylbenzotriazoles by using 2,2-dipyridyl disulfide/PPh (3) in anhydrous dichloromethane in the presence of 1 H -benzotriazole. Mild reaction conditions, short reaction time, easy in handling, wide substrate scope, availability of reagents involved, and moreover avoiding the use of base makes this protocol quite useful for the laboratory practices for N -acylbenzotriazole synthesis.

Aqueous complexation of uranyl(VI) ions with methoxy- and methylbenzoates in 0.1 M NaClO4 solutions was studied by means of UV-vis absorption and Raman spectroscopy. The predominance of 1:1 complexation (uranyl to ligand) was verified for all uranyl carboxylates under acidic conditions (-log [H+] < 3.2), and absorption spectra, stability constants, and symmetric stretching frequencies of the uranyl group of the complexes were determined for the first time. For meta- and parasubstituted benzoates, a linear free energy relationship (LFER) was observed between the equilibrium constants for the protonation (log beta(p)) and uranyl complexation (log beta(U)) reactions, and the electronic effects of the substituents were successfully described by the Hammett equation. In the case of ortho-substituted benzoates, the stability constant of uranyl 2-methoxybenzoate is slightly lower than the LFER trend, which is generally explained by the destabilization of cross-conjugation in the uranyl complex due to the steric hindrance between the reaction center and adjacent methoxy group. On the contrary, the stability constant of uranyl 2-methylbenzoate is comparable to the LFER trend, implying that the steric effect is relatively insignificant for the smaller methyl group. The utility of such thermodynamic correlations between the uranyl-substituted benzoates is useful for the molecular understanding and predictive modeling of chemical interactions between actinyl(VI) ions and various organic carboxyl groups. Herein, we present the first report on TiO2 NPs based hybrid nano-reactor designed and synthesized via N-(2-amino ethyl)-3-amino propyl trimethoxy silane (AAPTMS) functionalization of graphene oxide (GO). The assynthesized nano-reactor was characterized by means of several analytical-cum-spectroscopic techniques that support the successful attempt for the synthesis of TiO2@AAPTMS-rGO. Further, the present catalyst was evaluated for its catalytic performance towards an expedient access to biologically relevant synthesis of 2,4,5-triaryl imidazoles. The functional sites of TiO2@AAPTMS-rGO direct the catalysis from the reactant to product with high atom economy, shorter reaction time and excellent yields. Moreover, the present catalyst TiO2@AAPTMS-rGO shows promising reusability for several catalytic cycles. It also provides a robust approach for 2,4,5-triaryl imidazoles with improved performance and without significant loss in catalytic activity. Further, this catalyst can be upgraded for other organic transformations leading to numerous pharmaceuticals and environment benefits.

Transition metal-catalyzed cross-couplings have been widely employed in the synthesis of many important molecules in synthetic chemistry for the construction of diverse C-C bonds. The use of an easily installed/removed Si-based auxiliary enables selective I-atom/radical translocation events at remote C-H sites followed by the Heck reaction. Notably, the reaction proceeds smoothly under mild visible-light-mediated conditions at room temperature, producing highly modifiable and valuable alkenol products from readily available alcohols feedstocks.

A strategy toward the preparation of substituted allyl aryl ethers from benzoic acids via a dearomatization and decarboxylative allylation (DcA) reaction is presented. The benzoic acids undergo a dearomatization to give alkylated 2,5-cyclohexadienyl ketoesters which are subjected to a palladium-catalyzed DcA reaction, providing a variety of functionalized allyl aryl ethers. In addition, the combination of a resonance stabilized DcA reaction with a Claisen rearrangement for the synthesis of multisubstituted phenols and applying to dihydroplicatin B derivative synthesis is also presented.
