A major cause of tuberculosis (TB) resistance to the aninoglycoside kanamycin (KAN) is the Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) acetyltransferase Eis. Upregulation of this enzyme is responsible for inactivation of KAN through acetylation. of its amino;groups.
