Effect of Steel Wires on the Microwave Pyrolysis of Tire Powders

The discharge caused by metals triggered by microwave radiation is a key issue, whereas little attention was paid to the pyrolysis of waste tires by using the interaction between microwave and metals. In this work, the effect of such factors, that is, the microwave power, the steel wire (SW) mass fraction, and its spatial position in the tire powders (TPs), as well as the flow rate of the carrier gas, on the pyrolysis of the samples were experimentally examined in a laboratory-scale microwave oven. It was observed that the addition of SWs significantly accelerated the pyrolytic reaction of the TPs with regard to the conversion rate (product yields), even at rather low power, which may lead to a more complete degradation and significant reduction in the economic cost of the process. In addition, the presence of SWs has significant effects on the composition of products with different phases, especially gas yield (up to 35.3%) and also the H2 concentration in tires (up to 16.11%) were extremely high. The research on the discharge triggered by metals subjected to microwave irradiation will be instructive for promoting the industrial applications of discharges due to microwave radiation.

Zn thiosacharinates: From ionic to polymeric structures. Synthesis, characterization and cell proliferation inhibition studies

A series of Zn thiosacharinates complexes with nitrogen donor co-ligands were synthesized: [Zn(tsac)2(o-phen)], [Zn(tsac)2(TMDP)]n, [(4,4?-bipy)H2][Zn(tsac)4] [Zn(tsac)2(2,2?-bipy)], [Zn(tsac)2(2,2?-bquin)], (tsac, thiosaccharinate anion: 1,1-dioxo-1,2-benzisothiazole-3-thiolato, C7H4NO2S2?, o-phen: 1,10?-phenantroline, TMDP: trimethylenedipyridine, 2,2?-bipy: 2,2?-bipyridine, 4,4?-bipy: 4,4?-bipyridine, 2,2?-bquin: 2,2?-biquinoline). They were fully characterized by means of FTIR, 13C and 1H NMR, elemental analysis and conductivity measurements. Three of them, [Zn(tsac)2(o-phen)], [(4,4?-bipy)H2][Zn(tsac)4], [Zn(tsac)2(TMDP)]n were also characterized by X-ray single crystal diffractometry and their crystal structures are described herein. DFT geometry optimization for the [Zn(tsac)2(o-phen)] complex was performed and its vibrational spectra was predicted. Moreover, we studied the effects of the five complexes on cell proliferation, thus providing preliminary evidence for their therapeutic potential as anti-cancer drugs.

Palladium-catalysed reduction of heteroaromatic naphthyl ethers: Structural effects on reactivity

Tetrazolyl and benzisothiazolyl naphthylmethylic ethers 3 and 4(a-e) are stable crystalline compounds that can be synthesised in high yields by reaction of the corresponding naphthyl methanols (1a-e) with the derivatizing agents 2a and 2b. Experimental conditions for palladium-catalysed hydrogenolysis of ethers 3, 4, with a hydrogen donor and with molecular hydrogen, were investigated. Analysis of the structure and reactivity indicates that naphthylmethylic ethers 3 and 4 are structurally similar to the corresponding benzyloxyderivatives around the ether bond but exhibit different reactivity. Structural analysis for these compounds is based on crystallographic structure determinations, for 5-(2-naphthylmethoxy)-1-phenyltetrazole (3a) and 3-(2-naphthylmethoxy)-1,2- benzisothiazole 1,1-dioxide (4a), and molecular orbital DFT(B3LYP)/6-311G(d) calculations, for all ethers. It can be concluded from this investigation that 5-chloro-1-phenyltetrazole 2a acts as a better derivatizing agent for naphthyl methanols than 3-chloro-1,2-benzisothiazole-11-dioxide 2b, this contrasting with what has been observed with phenols, allylic and benzylic alcohols.

High-resolution infrared analysis of seven fundamental bands of gaseous isothiazole between 750 and 1500 cm-1

The gas phase IR spectrum of isothiazole, C3H3NS, between 550 and 1700 cm-1 was recorded with a resolution of ca. 0.003 cm-1. The rotational structure of seven fundamental bands in the region 750-1500 cm-1 has been assigned and analysed by the Watson Hamiltonian model. A number of local resonances in the bands have been identified and explained qualitatively in terms of Coriolis interactions. For each band upper state spectroscopic constants, including band center, rotational constants, and quartic centrifugal distortion constants are given. From observed crossings due to resonances we locate the weak bands nu9(A?) and nu13(A?) at 1041.9(2) and 642.0(3) cm-1, respectively. The anharmonic frequencies have been determined using a cc-pVTZ basis set, at the MP2 and B3LYP levels; the two theoretical methods give very similar results for rotational constants, anharmonic band center frequencies and distortion constants, and many of these are in good agreement with experiment.

And as a method, freeware (Free Trial) version of “Chem-BioOffice Ultra 13.0 Suite” chemical drawing program to draw two and three-dimension of formulas, “Campus-Licensed” version that are provided for use by our university of “Autodesk 3DS Max” for three-dimension drawings are used.
